Body Found In Newark Park With Gunshot Wound: Authorities
Essex County authorities are investigating a possible homicide after a man's body was found at Vailsburg Park in Newark.
NEWARK, NJ — Essex County authorities are investigating a possible homicide after a man’s body was found at Vailsburg Park in Newark on Monday morning. The official cause of death is still pending an autopsy, prosecutors said.
A preliminary investigation indicates the victim sustained an apparent gunshot wound, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin. An investigation is active and ongoing, authorities said. Anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
