Boy, 8, Fatally Shot In Newark; Police Investigation Launched
An 8-year-old boy was fatally shot in Newark, authorities said.

Essex County authorities have launched an investigation after an 8-year-old boy was fatally shot in Newark on Sunday night.
The shooting took place around 10 p.m. on the 100-block of Schuyler Avenue, but it’s not yet known what caused it or who was involved. No other injuries were reported, the Associated Press reported Monday.

A spokesperson with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office told Patch that authorities are probing “an incident in which an 8-year-old male child was killed,” but declined to comment further, citing the ongoing investigation.
