The victim was identified, and details were released in a fatal police-involved shooting that took place in New Jersey on Tuesday.
Talif Scudder, 23, of Irvington was shot and killed by a police officer who was responding to a scene. A 16-year-old male was allegedly shot by Scudder, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
The teen is in stable condition, authorities said.

Just before police responded to the Spencer Street and Lindsley Avenue location, two men started shooting at each other, and officers also opened fire at the Newark location, police said.
One person was fatally shot by police after officers interrupted a shooting in progress on 18the Avenue and Alexander Street, authorities said.

Neighbors told NBC4 they heard several gunshots -- at least five or six, according to one woman. One man was killed in the incident, and a woman has been taken to hospital in a serious condition, according to police.
Sources told NBC4 it was unclear whether the man and woman were hit in the initial shootout, or whether they were hit by police. Police were on the scene investigating, and taped off several blocks.
