Nothing Suspicious Found After Bomb Threat Grounds Plane At Newark Airport, Officials Say [VIDEO]

A bomb threat was made to an inbound plane that landed at Newark Liberty International Airport Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Nothing suspicious was found after a bomb threat grounded a plane at Newark Liberty International Airport Thursday afternoon, according to the Port Authority.

A crew of 13 along with 206 passengers were aboard the threatened aircraft that landed in Newark around 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The crew and passengers were let go after it was determined that nothing suspicious was aboard the aircraft, authorities said. No parts of the airport were closed.

The plane was taken to a remote part of the airport where passengers and luggage were screened, said Joe Pentangelo, a spokesman for the Port Authority.

The bomb threat was made to British Airways flight # 184, which departed from London, the Port Authority said.

Someone phoned in Thursday morning claiming they were going to start shooting people in one of the terminals if they weren’t given $50,000, The New York Daily News reported.

The caller made his threat from a payphone inside Newark Airport’s Terminal B around 10 a.m, saying he would begin shooting people if he wasn't given the money and a getaway flight, according to the report.

Pictures from the scene showed flight passengers laying out their bags, lining up on tarmac to be checked following the threat. Fox News provided a video of the scene:

Port Authority officials were standing by the landing site Thursday, waiting for its arrival.

The news comes about two days after a passenger plane landing at Newark Airport bounced up and down on a runway, causing ceiling panels to fall before a pilot canceled the landing and took off again, according to NBC New York.

The rough ride caused panels in the Boeing 767 to fall from the plane’s ceiling onto the aisleway as flight attendants rushed to check on passengers. United flight 557 was traveling from Houston on with 214 passengers aboard when it made the hard landing, according to the report.
