UPDATED: 'Medical Emergency' Forces Diversion Of Arriving Flight At Newark Airport
A Lufthansa flight scheduled to arrive at Newark Airport was diverted to Manchester on Monday.

A Lufthansa flight scheduled to arrive at Newark Liberty International Airport on Monday was diverted to Manchester because of a medical emergency, according to authorities.
Lufthansa flight #LH408 from Dusseldorf, Germany, was scheduled to land at Newark Airport on Monday evening, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
A Lufthansa spokeswoman provided the following statement to Patch at 1:05 p.m.

“Today’s flight LH 408 from Duesseldorf to Newark diverted to Manchester due to a medical emergency on board. On board the Airbus A330 are 122 passengers and 12 crew members. The flight is planned to continue to Newark.”
The medical emergency was the second Lufthansa flight in two days to encounter an in-flight incident. On Sunday, a Jordanian man with an American passport threatened to open the cabin door of a flight over Europe and had to be restrained by members of a traveling handball team, the Associated Press reported.
