Brother, Sister Shot In Newark As They Walked Down Street: Police
Authorities have launched an investigation into a fatal New Jersey shooting that took place on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

NEWARK, NJ — Authorities have launched an investigation into a fatal Essex County shooting that left a man dead and his sister wounded on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
According to police, the shooting took place around 4 p.m. on the 100 block of Seymour Avenue in Newark as a 25-year-old man and his 23-year-old sister were walking down the street.
Authorities pronounced the male victim – who was pronounced dead on the scene – as Tony Branch, of Newark.

Emergency responders transported Branch’s sister to a nearby hospital where she was admitted in stable condition, police said.
This incident is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.
