NEWARK, NJ — Drivers should expect delays after a busy local roadway was rendered “impassable” after a water main break on Tuesday morning, Newark public safety officials say.

The break affected the streets at South Orange Avenue between Fairmount Avenue and Littleton Avenue, Interim Newark Public Safety Director Raul Malave said.

Police responded to the area around 4 a.m. to block the streets for public safety while repairs are being made.

Malave urged drivers and commuters to “anticipate delays and to plan alternate routes.”
