Car Fatally Strikes Man Doing Auto Repairs In Newark: Prosecutors
A man was killed in Newark when a car hit a vehicle he was doing repairs on, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — A man was killed in Newark last week when a car hit a vehicle he was doing repairs on, authorities announced Tuesday.
Israel Olushola Adebayo, 56, of Easton, Pennsylvania, died on Friday, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that on Friday, Oct. 1, at approximately 2 p.m., the victim was under his friend’s Nissan Altima doing automotive repairs on Somerset Street in Newark, when the driver of a Dodge Charger traveling at a high rate of speed lost control and struck the Nissan. Adebayo was pronounced dead at 2:55 p.m.”
The driver of the Dodge Charger remained at the scene. No charges have been filed as of Tuesday, authorities said.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal motor vehicle incident.
