Carjacker Steals Vehicle With Woman, Child Inside: Newark Police
The suspect drove a short distance after stealing the vehicle, but stopped after he realized a woman and her child were inside, police said.
NEWARK, NJ — Police are searching for a man who allegedly stole a vehicle in Newark while a woman and her child were still in the back seat, authorities announced Wednesday.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the carjacking took place around 8:30 p.m. on April 29 at a supermarket parking lot on the 800-block of North 6th Street.
The suspect drove a short distance after stealing the vehicle, but stopped the car after he realized a woman and a child were inside, police said.

Here’s what happened next, authorities said, releasing surveillance photos taken at the scene of the crime:
“He got out of the car and ran southbound on North 6th Street. The vehicle was recovered and the suspect was later seen getting out of the below-pictured blue sedan, possibly an Acura TLX model.”
