Catalytic Converters Stolen From Several Cars In Newark: Police

Newark police have released surveillance photos of a vehicle allegedly used in the thefts.

NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are searching for the people who allegedly stole catalytic converters from several vehicles on Prince Street, authorities said Tuesday.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the thefts of the expensive car parts took place between 1 and 4 a.m. on Monday on the 100 and 200-blocks of Prince Street.

“The suspects were captured on surveillance video in a white Audi SUV with tinted windows and no front license plate. The suspects then removed the catalytic converters from several vehicles on the 100 and 200-blocks of Prince Street and drove away traveling west on Muhammad Ali Avenue.”

Police released surveillance images of the vehicle, which can be seen below.

Newark police said that anyone with information about the suspects can call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Anonymous tips can also be made using the Police Division’s website at www.newarkpd.org or through its smartphone app.
