Chemical Spill At Newark Textile Company, Workers Evacuated: NDPS
The exposed workers were transported to Clara Maass Hospital in Belleville for treatment, police said.

NEWARK, NJ — A chemical spill at a textile facility in Newark forced an evacuation of the building and hurt three employees of the company on Friday morning. The workers were transported to Clara Maass Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
Newark Fire Department responders arrived at Safer Holding Corporation, located at 1875 McCarter Highway, around 7:49 a.m. after receiving a call about a chemical spill, the Newark Department of Public Safety stated.
The leak took place at a 1,000-gallon tank diluted with hydrogen peroxide. The Newark Fire Department estimated that 200 gallons of the non-flammable chemical spilled during the incident.

The building was occupied by 15 employees who were all evacuated, authorities said.
Authorities said that three employees were transported to Clara Maas Hospital due to exposure. All injuries were considered non-life threatening as of Friday.

NFD Haz-Mat members are continuing to control and investigate the source of the leak, authorities said. No additional information was immediately available.
