Child Dies After Dog Attack In Newark; Police Launch Investigation

NEWARK, NJ — A young child died after a dog attacked her in Newark on Tuesday night, authorities say.

The 18-month-old victim was taken to University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The cause and manner of death will be determined after an autopsy, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The ECPO Homicide Task Force is investigating the fatality, authorities said. No additional information was released.

The incident reportedly took place inside a home on Second Avenue. Multiple dogs were removed from the property, sources say.
