Child Wounded In Newark Shooting, 2 Adults Also Shot: Police

A six-year-old child is in the hospital recovering from a collapsed lung, but is expected to survive, Newark's public safety director said.

NEWARK, NJ — A six-year-old child and two adults were shot on South Orange Avenue in Newark on Tuesday night, authorities said.

During a news conference about a separate shooting – which wounded two local police officers – Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé confirmed that there is also an ongoing investigation into the South Orange Avenue shooting.

The child is in the hospital recovering from a collapsed lung, but is expected to survive, Fragé said. He did not specify the conditions of the two wounded adults or offer any additional details about the shooting.
