Cops Arrest Essex County Man for Murder of Newark Mother

Essex County authorities arrested Sandro Vargas, 44, of Irvington, on Thursday for the murder of Patricia Hiciano, 37, of Newark.

According to prosecutors, Hiciano, a mother of four, was reported missing on March 10 by her family after she failed to arrive home from work.

Her body was discovered inside an apartment building located at 944 South 20th Street on March 14.

The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

Vargas was been charged with one count of first degree murder. He is being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark on $500,000 bail.
