Cops Probe Homicide In Newark; Cause Of Death Pending Autopsy

No arrests have been made as of Wednesday, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — The death of a 38-year-old man in Newark is being investigated as a homicide, authorities announced Wednesday.

Newark police responded to the 200-block of Cathedral Court around 11 p.m. on Tuesday after getting a report about an assault, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The officers found Daniel Hass, 38, of Newark, outside with injuries. He was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:53 p.m.

The cause and manner of his death are pending an autopsy, authorities said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the death. No arrests have been made as of Wednesday.
