Cops Search For Rapist Who Attacked Woman In Newark: NPD
Newark Police Department: A woman said a man grabbed her, threw her to the ground and forced her to have sex with him.
NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man who is accused of raping a woman last month, authorities announced Thursday.
The man is a suspect in a sexual assault that took place at 12:09 a.m. on Aug. 30, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety, which released surveillance photos of him (see below).
A woman told police that she changed her mind after agreeing to spend some time with the man, and tried to walk away from him near Raymond Boulevard and Dock Street. That’s when he grabbed her, threw her to the ground and forced her to have sex, she said.

Detectives described the suspect as a male from 6 feet to 6 feet 4 inches and about 240 to 260 pounds, with a light brown skin complexion, a short afro hairstyle and facial hair. He was wearing dark shorts, a dark short-sleeve shirt and dark sneakers with white soles, and was carrying a royal blue gym bag and a light blue or gray backpack.
