‘Coronavirus Preference’ For Newark Public Housing Wait List

Already on the Newark Housing Authority wait list for public housing? You may get bumped up if you've been impacted by COVID-19.

NEWARK, NJ — Are you already on the Newark Housing Authority’s (NHA) waiting list for public housing? You may get bumped up if you’ve been impacted by the new coronavirus, the agency announced Tuesday.

According to the NHA, it has been trying to accommodate families who are in need of transitional housing due to a loss of employment of homelessness. That includes adjusting its wait list, officials said.

“If you are currently under our public housing waiting list and wish to apply for COVID-19 preference, please visit our website at www.newarkha.org and click on the COVID-19 Public Housing Waiting List Preference Form under ‘Important Links,’” the agency stated. “The department will forward you an application packet if you are eligible once the form is received.”
