Crash Near I-78 In Newark Claims Jersey City Woman’s Life: Cops

A 32-year-old woman died in a crash at an entrance ramp to Interstate 78, state police said.

NEWARK, NJ — A fatal crash at an entrance ramp to Interstate 78 in Newark claimed a woman’s life on Monday night, authorities said.

According to a New Jersey State Police spokesperson, the single-vehicle crash took place at 11:06 p.m. on the entrance ramp from Route 1 south.

A Mercedes GLE was negotiating the curve on the entrance ramp when the driver lost control and struck the concrete barrier. The driver was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

There were no passengers in the car at the time, police said.

The driver was identified as Shonda Mincey, 32, of Jersey City, NJ.com reported.

A police investigation is ongoing. No additional information was immediately available.
