The crowdfunding platform is designed to help women entrepreneurs in Newark, and in addition to funding, will also provide the city’s inaugural recipients with one-on-one business coaching and video production services to help them reach their goals.
According to Newark city officials, the platform will officially launch in autumn 2017. The deadline for entries is Thursday, Sept. 21. All female entrepreneurs in the greater Newark area can apply on the iFundWomen Newark site here.

"We are thrilled to partner with City of Newark to help make iFundWomen Newark a reality," iFundWomen CEO Karen Cahn said. "Women are starting businesses at two times the rate of men, and operate with only half of the working capital, so it's critical that we partner and mobilize our collective resources to help close the female funding gap."

"Although women are one of the fastest growing segments of entrepreneurship, helping them secure access to capital remains a challenge," said Aisha Glover, president and CEO of the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation. "We are excited to partner with iFundWomen on the launch of this campaign, using their creative platform to allow people to identify and invest in Newark's innovation and talent."
