CVS Pharmacy Opens 'Hispanic-Focused' Store In Newark

One of the first of its kind in the Tri-State area, the Newark CVS Pharmacy y más store will have bilingual staff and signs.

NEWARK, NJ — A CVS Pharmacy y más store in Newark is part of a “first of its kind” wave of outreach to the Hispanic population in the Tri-State area, the company announced earlier this week.

CVS Pharmacy launched 12 of the specialized stores in New Jersey and New York, including a location at 451-461 Bloomfield Avenue in Newark.

  • 215 Bergen Boulevard, Fairview
  • 780 Route 22 East, North Plainfield
  • 1100 Liberty Street, Trenton
  • 9015 Bergenline Avenue 90TH Street, North Bergen
  • 4700 Bergenline Avenue, Union City
  • 714 Summit Avenue, Union City

According to a news release from the company:

“CVS Pharmacy y más stores are designed to provide an enhanced, convenient, personalized shopping experience specific to local Hispanic communities. Shoppers will find the tailored deals from products and brands they already know and love – all with a higher level of customer service and lower everyday price. The store format incorporates bilingual staff and signage, and is a one-stop shop for more than 1,500 products from trusted Hispanic brands, such as Iberia Foods, Yaucono, Fabuloso, Tio Nacho, Pilon and Café La Llave.”

Since 2015, the company has opened more than 200 CVS Pharmacy y más locations in more than 90 cities across California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas and Puerto Rico.

“Our CVS Pharmacy y más stores have been hugely beneficial to providing a more inclusive environment and value-based personalized selection for our Hispanic customers,” said Mayra Boitel of CVS Health.

“We understand our Hispanic customers are looking for more personalized shopping experiences and we’re eager to deliver in these markets and make them feel at home while they pick up their essentials,” Boitel said.
