NEWARK, NJ — An “immersive drive-thru Christmas light show” is returning to Newark for 2022.

Dasher’s Lightshow will reopen on Friday, Nov. 25 at the Newark Moonlight Cinema, 220 Orange Street. It runs until Saturday, Dec. 31, and will be open seven days a week starting at 5 p.m., with the last entry at 10:30 p.m. Learn more or purchase tickets here.

Visitors are treated to a massive display of flashing lights, glittering decorations and holiday music, which they can enjoy from the comfort of their vehicles (see the video below). It takes about 25 to 30 minutes for most cars to drive through the display, according to a frequently asked questions page on the show’s website.

The light show in Newark is a partnership between Ayana and Siree Morris, owners of the Newark Moonlight Cinema, and Jon Prebish from Dasher’s Lightshow.

“We had to make a lot of changes this year with Newark Moonlight, but I am happy that the light show is here to stay,” Ayana Morris said. “We are lighting up the city in such a beautiful way and creating a unique experience right in our backyard.”

“Christmas is my favorite time of the year and nothing makes me happier than turning on the lights,” Siree Morris agreed. “Hands down, we have the best light show in New Jersey.”
