An off-duty Newark police officer discharged his weapon on Clifton Street, authorities say.

An off-duty Newark Police officer fired shots on Saturday night, prompting an Essex County Prosecutor’s Office investigation into the incident.
According to a spokeswoman from the prosecutor’s office, the officer discharged his weapon around 10:30 p.m. near 43 Clifton Street.
Nobody was injured during the incident, authorities told Patch.
