East Orange Teen Fatally Shot At Halloween Party In Newark: PD

Shots were fired at a large Halloween party in Essex County. No arrests have been made, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — An East Orange teen died in a shooting at a large Halloween party in Newark, authorities said.

Police responded to an apartment building on 4th Avenue around 11:47 p.m. on Sunday after getting a report about gunfire, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Officers found Mouctar Toure, 17, suffering from a gunshot wound. Toure was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead at 2:06 a.m. on Monday, authorities said.

No arrests have been made, authorities said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting.
