East Orange Woman Fatally Shot In Newark; No Arrests Made: Police

An East Orange woman died after being fatally shot in Newark, authorities said.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — An East Orange woman died after being fatally shot in Newark earlier this week, authorities announced Friday.

Police found Juan Sharonda Fonrose, 25, of East Orange, with gunshot wounds on the 400-block of Central Avenue in Newark on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Fonrose was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 4:21 p.m.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes Newark detectives, is investigating the fatal shooting. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
