Electric Scooter Rider Dies After Crash With Car In Newark: ECPO
An electric scooter rider died in a collision with a vehicle in Newark, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — An electric scooter rider died in a collision with a vehicle in Newark on Monday, authorities said.
The crash took place around 7 a.m. on the 700-block of Frelinghuysen Avenue near the intersection of Whittier Place, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
The driver of the scooter, Marcus Vinicus Pires DeCruz, 36, of Newark, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:22 a.m.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Crime Scene Investigations Bureau is investigating the collision. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
