Emergency Landing At Newark Airport; Smoke Odors Reported

NEWARK, NJ — A United Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Newark Airport on Monday morning after reports of smoke in the cockpit, authorities said.

No injuries were reported, the FAA stated.

The flight – United 800 – was headed to Orlando and was in the air for about 13 minutes before it changed course, NBC New York reported.

The plane landed safely without further incident. There were no impacts to airport operations, Port Authority officials said.

Passengers will be put on a different aircraft slated to leave Newark at 9:30 a.m., NJ.com reported.

Some passengers complained on social media about a smoky, gas-like odor in the cabin before it took off. “United should give everyone a refund,” one traveler wrote.
