In Essex County: 55 Arrested During Three-City Fugitive Sweep
Authorities conducted raids in Newark, Paterson and Irving; The effort netted 12 alleged gang members.
The New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit spearheaded a coordinated law enforcement sweep that led to the arrest of 55 people on warrants in Passaic and Essex Counties last week.
Of the 55 people arrested, 12 were identified as street gang members, according a release from the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General.
The three-day initiative took place on June 16 in Paterson, June 17 in Irvington, and June 18 in Newark. It identified persons wanted on various warrants for crimes including aggravated assault, sex assault, weapons offenses, burglary, CDS offenses, and municipal violations.

Once arrested, the defendants were processed and lodged in county jails, the release stated.
In addition to the New Jersey State Police, the following agencies participated in the initiative: U.S. Marshals Service - Newark Division, New Jersey Parole, Homeland Security Investigations, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Passaic County Sheriff’s Office, Essex County Sheriff’s Office, Newark Police Department and the Paterson Police Department.
