The Middle States Commission on Higher Education has reaffirmed the accreditation of Essex County College for the next eight years, administrators announced last month.

The commission found Essex County College to be in full compliance with each of its 15 Requirements of Affiliation and seven Standards of Accreditation. The commission made a site visit to the Newark campus in March.

“This reaccreditation is a testament to our commitment to our mission,” Essex County College President Augustine Boakye said.

Administrators referenced a “self-study” that the college has been carrying out over the past years, which included input from more than 100 staff, faculty and students.

“From the implementation of the self-study, to the evaluation team’s visit, to the commission’s reaffirmation of accreditation, the entire process has been rewarding and acknowledges that Essex County College is on track and achieving its vision, mission and values to effectively serve students and community with excellence,” said Marion Bolden, chair of the board of trustees.
