Essex County Man, 20, Dies In Shooting; Police Probe Continues
An East Orange resident died in a fatal shooting that took place in Irvington on Monday morning, authorities said.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A fatal shooting in Irvington claimed the life of a 20-year-old East Orange resident on Monday morning, authorities said.
Irvington police responded to a building on the 300-block of 21st Street at 1:22 a.m. after getting reports about gunfire in the area. Officers found a man with gunshot wounds near the entrance of the building, authorities said.
The victim – later identified as Quashawn Moses, 20, of East Orange – was transported to University Hospital in Newark. He was pronounced dead at 2:59 a.m.

The homicide task force of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office – which includes detectives from the Irvington Police Department – is investigating the shooting. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Prosecutor’s Tips line at 1-877-847-7432.
