Essex County Man Fatally Shot In Newark

The shooting took place in the vicinity of the Stephen Crane Village in Newark, police say.

Newark, NJAuthorities are investigating a fatal shooting that took place in Newark on Wednesday.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Newark police responded to the 900 block of Franklin Avenue in the vicinity of the Stephen Crane Village around 9:42 p.m.

When officers arrived they discovered Karod H. Tucker, 36, of Irvington, with what appeared to be multiple gun shot wounds.

He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:30 p.m., authorities stated.

At this time the investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified, prosecutors said.
