Essex County Obituary: Patrick James O'Callaghan, Secret Service Agent

The Essex County resident was a worked as a Secret Service Agent for 26 years, local minister and Knights of Columbus member.

Essex County resident Patrick James O’Callaghan passed away on Nov. 27.

He was 82-years-old.

“Patrick James O’Callaghan, 82, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015.

“Surviving is his beloved wife of 31 years, Mary Ann (Angrisani), his devoted children, Kathleen Slaughter, Eileen Church Giannetti, Patrick, and Kevin; his devoted stepchildren, Michael Petrozzino, Lisa Trainor, Suzanne Gamba and Diana Lay; 22 cherished grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as Pop. He is also survived by his siblings, Maureen, Brian, Nora, Michael, Terrance and Sean.

“He is pre-deceased by Marlene (his first wife), his son Daniel O’Callaghan and daughter, Maureen Colvin.

“Born on September 26, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Margaret O’Callaghan. He grew up in Michigan graduated from Michigan State University. He proudly served as a marine during the Korean Conflict era and was honorably discharged. Patrick worked as a Secret Service Agent for 26 years, retiring as Assistant Special Agent in Charge from the Newark field office. In addition to his services to our country, he was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Lake Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and former president of the Seton Hall Prep Father’s Club. He was proud of his Irish heritage, he was a member of the Emerald Society and a member of the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh Club. Loved by many, Patrick will be forever in our hearts.
