Essex County Summer Concerts, Fireworks (2024 Event Schedule)

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Essex County has announced the 2024 schedule for its popular annual Summer Music Concert Series.

This year’s celebration will include more than two dozen concerts and five cultural festivals – all of which are free and open to the public (see the full list below).

The summer series will also include three “concert and fireworks spectaculars,” which will take place on the following dates:

• Friday, June 28 – New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Branch Brook Park (Newark/Belleville)
• Tuesday, July 2 – Men of Soul, Weequahic Park (Newark)
• Wednesday, July 3 – The Infernos, Brookdale Park (Bloomfield/Montclair)

Here’s what you should know if you plan to go, according to county officials:

“Concerts are held at accessible sites. Individuals who require special accommodations or assistance are asked to call at least two weeks prior to the concert to alert staff as to their needs. Admission to the concerts is free. For more information, please call the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs at 973‑268-3500.”

“The Essex County Free Summer Music Concert Series offers a diverse lineup of performers who will take center stage throughout our historic parks system,” Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. said, adding that local music lovers should “pack a blanket, enjoy the cool evening breeze, and dance to the sounds of classical, rock and roll, jazz, big band, Latin and more.”

The Summer Music Concert Series is being sponsored by Rose Squared Production and is made possible in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.

The 2024 concert series schedule is as follows:

• Tuesday, June 25th at 7 p.m. in Essex County Yanticaw Park in Nutley: Suit and Mai Tai
• Wednesday, June 26th at 7 p.m. in in Essex County Verona Park in Verona: Jersey Sound
• Friday, June 28th at 7:30 p.m. in Essex County Branch Brook Park in Newark: New Jersey Symphony Orchestra followed by a Fireworks Spectacular
• Saturday, June 29th from 12 noon to 6 p.m. in Essex County Monte Irvin Orange Park, Orange: Gospel Festival (rain date is Sunday, June 30th)
• Tuesday, July 2nd at 7:30 p.m. in Essex County Weequahic Park in Newark: Men of Soul followed by a Fireworks Spectacular.
• Wednesday, July 3rd at 7:30 p.m. in Essex County Brookdale Park in Bloomfield/Montclair: The Infernos followed by a Fireworks Spectacular
• Tuesday, July 9th at 7 p.m. in Essex County Watsessing Park, Bloomfield: Trilogy: An Opera Company Performance of Scott, Garner, Gray: Says Jimmy Baldwin
• Wednesday, July 10th at 7 p.m. in Essex County Riverbank Park in Newark: Luis Motta Y Su Rumba
• Friday, July 12th at 7:30 p.m. in Essex County Brookdale Park in Bloomfield/Montclair: The Niche: A Night of R&B
• Tuesday, July 16th at 7 p.m. in Essex County Veterans Memorial Park in Newark: Soular Rhythm
• Wednesday, July 17th at 7 p.m. in Essex County Ivy Hill Park in Newark: Diamond Jupiter
• Friday, July 19th at 7:30 p.m. in Essex County Brookdale Park in Bloomfield/Montclair: Earth Wind Fire
