Essex County Will Take Over Irvington Police Internal Affairs Unit
Irvington Police Director Tracy Bowers will remain in place, prosecutors said.
IRVINGTON, NJ — The county prosecutor’s office will be taking control of the internal affairs unit of the Irvington Police Department, authorities announced Wednesday.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the day-to-day operations of the unit. Personnel from the professional standards bureau will be assigned to the Irvington internal affairs unit, and will direct its operations and investigations, according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II.
Irvington Police Director Tracy Bowers will remain in place, prosecutors said.
