Essex County Woman Trapped In Home Fire, Hospitalized (VIDEO)
Authorities said that eight adults and four children were displaced as a result of the Essex County home fire.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A woman is in critical condition after being trapped inside a burning building in Newark late Wednesday night. Authorities said that eight adults and four children were displaced in the blaze.
Firefighters responded to a 2.5-story residential building at 141 Vermont Avenue around 11:50 p.m. to find a woman trapped inside, according to the Newark Department of Public Safety. After her rescue, emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital. Her condition remains critical as of Thursday morning.
Firefighters places the conflagration under control at 12:44 a.m. on Thursday, authorities said. No other injuries were reported, but the fire displaced three families, including eight adults and four children.

The Newark Fire Division’s Arson Unit is investigating the cause of the blaze, authorities said.
