Essex Courts To Hold Bullying Awareness Seminar At Newark School
The Essex Vicinage will hold a bullying awareness seminar for students at Science Park High School on Oct. 4.

NEWARK, NJ — The Essex Vicinage will hold a bullying awareness seminar on Thursday, Oct. 4 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. for students of Science Park High School at the school’s auditorium, 260 Norfolk St., Newark.
According to a news release from the vicinage, Superior Court Judge Verna Leath will give welcoming remarks. Barbara Prempeh, program coordinator of the Game-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy externship program at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center’s Metropolitan Regional Diagnostic Treatment Center, and Nicole Graves-Watson, community relations specialist with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, will address the students.
The program will address types of bullying, the legal definition of bullying, preventative measures, New Jersey’s anti-bullying laws and the specialized topics of cyberbullying and “sexting.”

The seminar will include role-play scenarios performed by John Rogers and the New Jersey Mental Health Players.
The program is sponsored by the Essex Vicinage Advisory Committee on Minority Concerns.
