THIS SATURDAY APRIL 21st ~ PROTESTANT COMMUNITY CENTERS INC. SCEEP OLYMPICS - DONOR APPRECIATION LUNCHEON

On Saturday April 21st while striving for their personal best over 200 children from elementary schools in Newark will enjoy a day of track and field competitions at the Newark Academy campus.
Children participating in the SCEEP Olympics all attend Protestant Community Center, Inc.'s (PCCI) Suburban Cultural Educational Enrichment Program (SCEEP) where they receive one-on-one tutoring throughout the academic year. SCEEP helps approximately 250 children from 11 Newark elementary schools attain academic excellence through a network of tutoring sites in churches, corporations and private schools throughout northern and central New Jersey.
PCCI, a 48 year old Newark-based non profit is the largest and oldest one-to-one volunteer tutoring/mentoring program in the state, and takes teaching the "whole" child to heart. As a community partner with First Lady Michelle Obama's local Let's Move! Newark team, we are also dedicated to help solve the problem of obesity within a generation, so that children born today will grow up healthier and are able to pursue their dreams.
Our special guest this year will be Newark Councilman Donald M. Payne Jr. PCCI will present a special award in honor and memory of Councilman Payne's father, Congressman Donald Payne.
