Every HS Senior At This Newark Charter School Applied For College
The class of 2023 has earned more than $16 million in four-year renewable scholarships, Great Oaks Legacy Charter School administrators say.

NEWARK, NJ — It’s hard to beat 100 percent.
That’s the number of seniors in the class of 2023 at Great Oaks Legacy Charter School (GOLCS) in Newark who submitted a college application this year, administrators say.
Their alma mater held a celebratory senior brunch for the high schoolers earlier this month – complete with an orange juice toast to their bright futures.

To help this year’s senior class get into their dream colleges, GOLCS staff held workshops and admissions presentations. It has paid off, administrators say: more than 80 percent have earned acceptances from top universities, including Temple, Penn State and Rutgers.
In addition, the class of 2023 has earned more than $16 million in four-year renewable scholarships.
