Details were revealed in a fatal car wreck that closed a major New Jersey highway Tuesday, authorities said. The fatal accident that closed westbound Route 3 in East Rutherford was a suicide, police told WABC-TV.
Jorge J. Torres, 27, of North Arlington, who was in the passenger seat, jumped from a moving vehicle on Route 3. Police found him in the roadway and CPR was performed, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.
The accident initially closed westbound Route 3 in East Rutherford at 5:10 a.m. at Route 120, near the New Jersey Turnpike's western spur, according to state transportation officials.

The accident investigation closed three right lanes of the four around 8 a.m., causing major delays. News12 reported that the body was still on the roadway after the victim apparently left the vehicle.
Motorists were advised to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
