Fatal House Fire In Newark: 1 Dead, 1 Rescued, Firefighter Hurt
Arson detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office are investigating the cause and origin of the blaze, Newark authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A person died in a house fire in Newark on Friday, authorities said.
According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, the two-alarm fire took place at a 2.5 story, wood-frame residential building on Hedden Terrace.
When firefighters arrived at the scene around 8:40 p.m., they found an unresponsive man near the front door. He was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Firefighters rescued another adult male from the building’s roof.
A firefighter suffered an ankle injury, and was evaluated by emergency medical responders, authorities said.

The fire was placed under control at 9:06 p.m.
