Fatal Pedestrian Incident Under Investigation In Newark

Authorities are investigating the death of a 42-year-old pedestrian in Newark.

NEWARK, NJ — A “fatal pedestrian incident” took place in Newark last weekend, authorities announced Tuesday.

Rajon Collins, 42, was struck in the area of Springfield Avenue and South 18th Street at 9:17 p.m. on Sunday, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Collins was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m.
