Fatal Shooting In Newark; 1 Dead, 1 Wounded
The men – aged 27 and 25 – were both taken to the hospital. One died from his wounds, police said.
NEWARK, NJ — A fatal shooting killed one victim and wounded another in Newark on Tuesday, authorities said.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety released the following details about the shooting:
“At approximately 9:30 p.m., Newark officers were dispatched to the 200-block of South Orange Avenue on a report of shots fired. Arriving officers located two males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.”
Both victims were transported to University Hospital. One of the men – later identified as Ty’Shon Young, 27, of Newark – was pronounced dead at 9:57 p.m.

The second victim, a 25-year-old man, remains hospitalized, police said Wednesday.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the shooting. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s tip line at 877-847-7432.
