Fatal Shooting In Newark; 47-Year-Old Victim Identified

A fatal shooting claimed the life of a 47-year-old victim in Newark, authorities announced Monday.

NEWARK, NJ — A fatal shooting claimed the life of a 47-year-old victim in Newark last week, authorities announced Monday.

Dana Cromer, 47, of Newark, was shot on Friday at 9:52 p.m. on the 400-block of South 11th Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:17 p.m., the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.

No arrests have been made as of Monday, prosecutors said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
