Fatal Shooting In Newark Claims Life Of 22-Year-Old Victim
Police continue to investigate the fatal shooting, authorities said.
NEWARK, NJ — A fatal shooting claimed the life of a 22-year-old victim in Newark last weekend, authorities say.
The shooting took place Saturday on the 300-block of South 8th Street, according to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.
Newark police responded to the scene at 10:47 a.m. after getting a report about an injured man. The officers found Jaheem Futrell, 22, of Newark, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Futrell was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:14 a.m., authorities said.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal shooting. No arrests have been made as of Sunday.
