Fatal Shooting In Newark Claims Life Of 39-Year-Old Man: Prosecutors

A fatal shooting claimed the life of a Newark resident, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A fatal shooting claimed the life of a 39-year-old man in Newark last week, authorities announced Sunday.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal shooting of Newark resident Ralph Harris.

Newark police received a report about a shooting on the 100-block of Brookdale Avenue at 6:43 p.m. on Friday. Officers found Harris outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 8:31 p.m.

No arrests have been made as of Sunday. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
