Fatal Shooting In Newark Claims Life Of Florham Park Resident

A 44-year-old Florham Park resident was found with multiple gunshot wounds in Newark, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A fatal shooting in Newark claimed the life of a Florham Park resident on Wednesday, authorities said.

Newark police responded to the 100-block of Weequahic Avenue at 10:33 a.m. after getting a report about a shooting. Officers found Murad Loyal, 44, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Loyal was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead at 11:14 a.m.

An investigation continues, authorities said. No arrests have been made.
