Fatal Shooting In Newark Claims Life Of Florida Resident

A Lauderdale Lakes resident died in a shooting in Newark, NJ. No arrests have been made as of Wednesday, authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A Florida resident died in a fatal shooting in Newark, New Jersey early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Newark police responded to the 2100-block of McCarter Highway at 1:45 a.m. after getting a report about a shooting. The officers found Frensly Bouquet, 27, of Lauderdale Lakes, lying on the ground and suffering from a gunshot wound.

Bouquet was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

No arrests have been made, authorities said.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the fatal shooting. Authorities said anyone with information can contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
