Fatal Shooting In Newark; Victim Was 23-Years-Old, Police Say

No arrests have been made, authorities said. An investigation continues.

NEWARK, NJ — A 23-year-old man died in a shooting that took place on South Orange Avenue in Newark earlier this week, authorities said Thursday.

Police officers responded to the 900-block of South Orange Avenue at 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday after getting a report about a shooting. The officers found Nyshon Anthony, 23, of Newark, suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Department of Public Safety.

Anthony was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead on Wednesday at 2:07 p.m.
