Father Gunned Down While Taking Children To Day Care

A father was gunned down outside his home in Essex County Wednesday while taking his three children to day care, authorities said.
Hassan W. Scott, 37, was found unresponsive and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8 a.m., according to Channel 11.
Officers were called about 7:40 a.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of South Ninth Street in Newark on a report of a shooting, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said in the report.

Scott suffered from multiple gunshot wounds while he was leaving his home to take his children — ages 2, 4 and 9 — to day care, according to the report.
Neighbors are now living in fear and, WABC-TV reported, residents say this is the latest in what has been a series of crimes happening in their community.

According to WABC, residents had this to say:
“Scared to come outside of the house.”
“We’re petrified and terrified.”
“I heard a loud noise, boom, boom, boom,” said Keith Beane, a neighbor. “I went outside the, guy was lying on the porch dead, shot.”
