Fire Near Famous Restaurant In Newark Extinguished
The cause and nature of the fire is under investigation, Newark authorities said.

NEWARK, NJ — A fire near the Famous Restaurant on Washington Street in Newark broke out on Thursday afternoon, but was contained within an hour, authorities said.
Newark firefighters responded to a blaze at a vacant building at 225 Washington Street around 12:40 p.m., according to the Newark Department of Public Safety (DPS). There were no reports of injuries, authorities said.
Famous Restaurant is located at 223 Washington Street, but is also serving as a bartending school. The building is currently under renovation, and was unoccupied at the time of the fire, a DPS spokesperson said.

The cause and nature of the fire is under investigation by the Newark Fire Division’s arson unit, authorities said.
