Firefighter Hurt In Blaze At Vacant Newark High School: Officials

NEWARK, NJ — A three-alarm blaze at a vacant Newark high school left a firefighter injured on Wednesday, authorities said.

According to the Newark Department of Public Safety, about 85 firefighters responded to battle a blaze at American History High School on Warren Street, which took place around 12:30 p.m.

Emergency responders transported a firefighter to University Hospital with a minor injury. No other people were hurt during the incident, authorities said.

Firefighters put the conflagration under control at 1:59 p.m. The Newark Fire Division’s Arson Unit is investigating its cause and origin, authorities said.
